From: Singapore
To: Sydney
Cabin: Business Class
Rating: 10/10
Flight number: QF 82
Airplane: Airbus A330
I use to love stopping over in Singapore on the way to London on QF1 / QF2 (before Qantas switched to Dubai, but thankfully, have switched back!). I haven’t been back in a while, so l thought it would be worthwhile to book a business class to Singapore for a bit of a break!
Qantas flies twice daily Sydney to Singapore. One flight is with the A330, with Qantas’ new business class cabin, and the other flight is the A380, with a slightly outdated business class cabin.
Airbus A330
Qantas have 18 Airbus A330’s, generally used on routes between the East Coast and West Coast of Australia, and shorter international routes such as Sydney to Singapore.
There are 28 business class seats.
Before the flight!
I had use of the Qantas Singapore lounge – one of my favourite Qantas lounges at the moment. My detailed review is available here.
On the flight!
The seating arrangements are 1 – 2 – 1, but don’t worry if you get stuck in the middle two seats and worried about the lack of privacy – once the divider between the two seats are up, you won’t realise there is someone next to you! Or if you are a couple, put the divider down and there will be plenty of space!
These new fancy amenity kits were handed out (no longer the Jack Spade ones) featuring Australian art – loved it, this one designed by Rachel Castle, and contains ASPAR products (by Aurora) and all the other usual products (e.g. toothbrush).
The usual Qantas pyjamas were handed out to guests. I have about 6 lying around at home – they are great to wear around the house and to bed – very comfy. A tip – try and get your PJs as early as possible so you can changed without having to queue up once the flight has departed.
Dining and in-flight service
One of the great parts of the Qantas flight is the turndown service, where they add a thin bedding which makes a huge difference to the quality of sleep – it adds a little bit of a cushion, and makes the seat softer – the flight attendants will assist you with this!
As l was well fed from the lounge, l didn’t chose to have dinner (though now regretting it!), and in the morning, there was a breakfast offering as we approached Sydney.
Overall
As l had to go to work the next day, being able to sleep on a fully flat bed ensured l got plenty of sleep, and was well rested. The level of service was great (not too overbearing, but also was available when needed). Well worth going on this flight in the future – especially given the upgrade Qantas has given the A330!
