Virgin Australia 737 Business Class review – Sydney to Melbourne

admin · December 20, 2018 · 1 Comment

From: Sydney

To: Melbourne

Cabin: Business Class

Rating: 8/10

Airplane:  Boeing 737

On a recent trip to Melbourne, l flew business class with Virgin Australia. This is a good option for those who look like having more space / better service and a decent feed! The extra Velocity points to upgrade to business were well worth it.

See below for why that is the case!

Boeing 737

The Virgin Australia business class has a 2-2 seating layout (compared to the 3-3 in economy class). As with nearly all business class products, it starts at the front of the plane, and there is a rope which separates business and economy. There is one toilet for business class, and there are generally three rows of business class on the 737.

You would generally expect to fly the Boeing 737 on most domestic routes, unless you are flying East – West Coast (which is the Airbus A330 – which is definitely a great product!). But this is still a good set up for short domestic flights.

Before the flight!

Being in business class, you still get access to priority check in and boarding, and access to the business class lounge! My detailed review of the Virgin Sydney business class is available here.

On the flight!

As mentioned above, the seating arrangements is 2- 2. There is a dedicated toilet up front for the business class lounge.

The seats are wider and there is plenty of legroom available.

Dining and in-flight service

There is also a pre takeoff drink – l opt for an orange juice but there is also sparkling wine or water.

Food was great, an option between a hot meal or a salad style meal. I have been trying to be healthy, and l picked the salad option! There was a watermelon in it as well (one of my favourite fruits!). Also a warm piece of bread, and a good yogurt option, along with the usual business class cutlery and cloth.

They also give you a Samsung tab where you can watch movies / TV shoes (an average selection). You also get headphones so you don’t disturb your other neighbours in business! The service is attentive with a dedicated flight attendant.

Overall

I was lucky in being able to use points for this trip – it was a good experience, and definitely and obviously made the trip pleasant!

Thanks for the great review! How does this compare to the Qantas Domestic Business Class? Very similar – love your work!
