Hi fellow readers,
Many of you would have visited the Qantas Sydney Business Class (International) lounge, which is the most visited Qantas international lounge, and you have been slightly disappointed with how drab and worn out it has become. Good news, Qantas is going to be upgrading the lounge (construction expected to started in the 3rd quarter of 2018, and finishing towards the end of 2019), with a brand new design, extra 30% seating, and a new dining experience.
However, if you haven’t visited recently, or at all, here is my review of the current business class lounge.
Key details:
- Opening hours are from 5am to 10pm every day
- In the international terminal, you need to pass through immigration and security, pass the stores and go left. There will be clear signs for the lounge, but go up the escalators near Gates 9 and 10.
- Who can enter: Qantas First Class and Business Class passengers, Jetstar Business Max Fare, Qantas Platnium One / Platnium / Gold travelling on a Qantas / Emirates or oneworld flight, or Qantas Club member travelling on a Qantas / Jetstar flight. Eligible oneworld members may access the lounge.
It does get busy throughout the day (so the extra seating will come in handy once the upgrade is complete). Though on every occasion l have been there, l have always been able to get a seat. I do like how you look over the tarmac and there is plenty of natural light.
Dining
An average dining experience – there are some buffet food options (such as butter chicken, rice, and as you can see below, some salads / cheeses etc), and a barista who serves good coffee. No a la carte menu unfortunately, which is available at other Qantas lounges such as London. There was Gelatissimo ice cream as well (a must for someone like me!).
Drinks
Decent array of Australian and international wines, beers and spirits on hand. Its all self service though (which can be a good or bad thing depending on your personality!)
Other facilities (showers etc)
Showers were fine – there was a short wait, but it was relatively clean inside.
Overall, if you are travelling through Sydney Airport, this would be better than being outside in the food hall – but not that much better! Can’t wait for the new upgrade!
As always, feel free to send me an email or post a comment if you have any questions. Happy to answer anything (well, nearly anything hehe).
