Hi my fellow readers,
One question l receive often from family and friends (generally after they sign up for a credit card which comes with a large Qantas FF points bonus) is how would l use 100,000 Qantas FF points – well, below is my answer to this question, and nope, it doesn’t involve purchasing any kettles or suitcases from the Qantas store!
Overview
The key to redeeming for flights is that redemption availability is limited for the better value flights. You need to plan in advance, and be flexibility in terms of dates, and potentially location if you want to get the most of your points.
1. Qantas A330 business class (domestic or Australia to New Zealand)
With the recent upgrade which Qantas has given the A330, it has to be one of the best business class seats on the market. Feel free to read my detailed review.
For 72,000 points return, this could take you from either Sydney to Auckland (plus c.$210 in taxes and fees), or Sydney to Perth. Generally business class trips aren’t cheap, so this is good value if you want to try our the A330 experience
2. Qantas premium economy to the US
Long haul flights in economy aren’t pleasant. But the flight can be improved if you fly premium economy, which gives you some nice benefits (e.g. wider seats, more leg room) and can make the world of difference.
3. Qantas economy class from Melbourne to London via Perth
How exciting is Qantas’ new Boeing 787 Dreamliner – while the flight is a long one, especially from Perth to London, this new plane has a number of features to make it a pleasant one. It only requires 60,000 points plus taxes.
