Like online shopping? You might be missing out on earning Qantas points!

admin · March 19, 2018 · 1 Comment

If you love to shop online (like me!), you could potentially be missing out on earning Qantas points!

The Qantas Online Mall is a shopping portal / mall where you can earn Qantas points. Below is my overview of how to use this mall, and some examples of how this offers great value for money.

Before l make a purchase online, l always check to see if the retailer is on the Qantas Online Mall! (or on the Velocity eStore – read my summary here if your preferred program is Velocity).

Once you’ve logged into the mall with your QFF membership details, you will see a range of online retailers, and how many points you can earn per dollar. If you intend to make a purchase, click through on the relevant retailer, follow the prompts (in the eBay example below, click on”Shop now”), and then complete your transaction on the retailers website. Qantas will track your purchase, and will credit you with the points. I haven’t had an issue with the tracking process (that is, l’ve always received my points for a purchase l make using the mall), but l’ve heard of instances where it doesn’t track!

At the time of writing, there are a number of large retailers on the mall, and the number of points they offer per dollar (this is obviously subject to change depending on promotions etc). Some of the major retailers include:

  • Apple (2 Qantas points per dollar)
  • David Jones (5 Qantas points per dollar)
  • eBay Australia (1 Qantas points per dollar)
  • Rebel Sport (4 Qantas points per dollar)
  • Woolworths Online (2 Qantas points per dollar)

So if you think about it, there are some great examples of where this is good value:

  • If you are going to make a purchase through an online-only retailer like eBay, you might as well use the Mall, as you earn 1 Qantas point per dollar of spend!
  • If the retailer doesn’t generally doesn’t discount their goods, like Apple, and the price between purchasing online and in store is about the same, you might as well purchase through the mall and then the Apple website, and get points for your purchase! For example, l was in the market of an iPhone X recently, l looked around and there weren’t any specials in store or online, so by buying it through the mall and then the Apple website, l received c.1,500 points, which l wouldn’t have received if l bought in-store or online (without clicking through the mall!).

Hope you enjoyed this summary – feel free to ask me any questions, or post about your experiences using the Qantas Mall.
