If you love to shop online (like me!), you could potentially be missing out on earning Asia Miles! If your preferred program is Velocity, then read my summary here, or if its QFF, then read my summary here.
The Asia Miles iShop is a shopping portal / mall where you can earn Asia Miles, which can be hard to come by if you live in Australia – so an excellent way of earning miles. Below is my overview of how to use this mall, and some examples of how this offers great value for money.
Once you’ve logged into the iShop with your Asia Miles membership details, you will see a range of online retailers, and how many points you can earn per dollar. While there is a large range of retailers, it does have a Hong Kong / Asia focus, but there are still plenty of retailers for Australian shoppers. The way to filter for Australian retailers is by clicking the globe, and filtering for ANZ, as you can see below.
If you intend to make a purchase, click through on the relevant retailer, follow the prompts, and then complete your transaction on the retailers website. Asia Miles will track your purchase, and will credit you with the points. I haven’t had an issue with the tracking process (that is, l’ve always received my points for a purchase l make using the mall), but l’ve heard of instances where it doesn’t track!
At the time of writing, there are about 50 or so Australian retailers on the iShop, and the number of points they offer per dollar (this is obviously subject to change depending on promotions etc). iShop quote in miles per US dollar spent. Some of the retailers include:
- Apple (1.5 Asia Miles per US dollar)
- Menulog (1.75 Asia Miles per US dollar)
- Rebel Sport (3.75 Asia Miles per US dollar)
- Uniqlo (3.5 Asia Miles per US dollar)
So if you think about it, there are some great examples of where this is good value:
- If you are going to make a purchase through an online-only retailer like Menulog, you might as well use the iShop, as you earn 1.75 Asia Miles per US dollar of spend! So assume the AUD / USD rate is 0.70, and your purchase is AU$10 (US$7), you will earn 12 Asia Miles (7 x 1.75).
- If the retailer doesn’t generally doesn’t discount their goods, like Apple, and the price between purchasing online and in store is about the same, you might as well purchase through the mall and then the Apple website, and get points for your purchase! For example, l was in the market of an iPhone X recently, l looked around and there weren’t any specials in store or online, so by buying it through the iShop and then the Apple website, l received c.1,500 miles, which l wouldn’t have received if l bought in-store or online (without clicking through the mall!).
Note, at times, the Qantas Mall or Velocity eStore or Asia Miles iShop have promos where they offer extra points per dollar spent. Their partners overlap a fair bit, so always useful to be alert to these deals!
Hope you enjoyed this summary – feel free to ask me any questions, or post about your experiences using the Asia Miles iShop.
