Hey all
I travel to Melbourne a fair bit, so instead of getting an expensive taxi from Tullamarine Airport, l get the expensive bus service that is Skybus (unfortunately, there isn’t a cheaper way to get into the city, unless you can get a lift from a friend or family member!).
If you do travel on the Skybus, you have an opportunity to earn Velocity points, which l only found out recently.
What is the Velocity points rate on the main Melbourne City Express service?
I see a few clever ways to maximise points:
- Book a round trip where possible (you get 250 Velocity points instead of 200 Velocity points if booked separately)
- If you are travelling with yourself and your partner / friend, book a “Family 2” fare rather than two separate Adult fare, as it costs the same (at time of writing), and you get more points (250 Velocity points one way) rather than two adult fares (200 Velocity points one way)
How do l book?
Easiest way is to do it online through the Skybus website.
You just buy the fare you want, and enter your Velocity membership number at the end. My points credited within a few days.
Alternatively, you can buy in person when you arrive at Tullamarine, but you need to have your physical Velocity membership card with you.
Summary
This is a great option to earn some Velocity points if you need to travel via the Skybus (in my mind, it makes the trip somewhat cheaper).

Great idea! I travel to Melbourne for work a lot, so great way for me to earn some points!
Pleased to hear Nat!
