G’day readers,
I don’t like to give out accolades often, but the Cathay Pacific The Pier First Class Lounge at Hong Kong Airport deserves plenty of praise!
It is worth noting that Cathay have another First Class lounge (The Wing) and four business class lounges to choose from, all worthwhile choices!
Key details:
- Opening hours are from 5:30am to 12:30am every day
- It is located near Gate 63, where this is an subtle entrance
- Who can enter: Cathay Pacific / Dragonair / Oneworld airline passengers; Marco Polo Club Diamond, Diamond Plus and Diamond Invitation frequent flyers, and equivalent Oneworld Emerald frequent flyers before Oneworld flights
See below for the entrance – as mentioned above, it is very subtle, but keep your eyes peeled for it!

When you go down the escalator, the check in desk is to your right. As you go inside, there is certainly a lovely home feeling (which can be refreshing when on the road) and there was plenty of space in different areas.

Dining
One of my favourite aspects of The Pier is the A La Carte menu, which is full of great, and fresh dishes – and a good combination of Asian and Western dishes. I didn’t want to go nuts at the lounge because l wanted room for food on the plane, but l chose the Wonton noodles in soup – a top notch dish (and authentic!).

There are also some nice Asian and Western snacks / desserts on offer in “The Pantry” – these include mini whole grain cupcakes, pastries, breads – l sampled a number of these and again, would happily pay for these at a top tier restaurant!

There are some nice dips, cheese etc at the Pantry.

Thanks for the tip – picked this lounge instead of the Qantas HK one – this one is even better than the Qantas Sydney First Class lounge!!!
