Introduction to Virgin Australia’s loyalty program (Velocity)

admin · January 18, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Hi all,

Australia’s other major frequent flyer program is Virgin Australia’s loyalty program, Velocity.

Well worth joining, and is free – use this link link to join

As most of you know, Virgin flies frequently between Australian cities, some international cities and code shares with a number of airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Etihad.

Velocity has three levels of membership above their entry level membership level (Red). They are Silver, Gold and Platnium. A key summary of the different tiers are:

  • Red

  • Silver

Status credits required: 250 and flown two eligible sectors

Status required to retain: 200 and two eligible sections within your 12 month benefit period

  • Gold

Status credits required: 500 and flown four eligible sectors

Status required to retain: 400 and four eligible sections within your 12 month benefit period

  • Platnium

Status credits required: 1,000 and flown eight eligible sectors

Status required to retain: 800 and eight eligible sections within your 12 month benefit period

Benefits:

Note: If you have too many Velocity points (what a lovely problem to have!), but need Krisflyer miles, read my guide to solve this problem!

Disadvantages:
